Mark 9:14-29 is a story about Jesus healing a young boy by casting out an evil spirit. In verse 22, the boy's father asks Jesus to "do something if [he] can." Jesus responds to the man in verse 23 by saying, "What do you mean 'if I can'? Anything is possible if a person believes."
I found myself soaking in these words of Jesus. "Anything is possible if a person believes." Do I really believe that anything is possible? I know my heart and mind want to, but I also know that I don't allow myself to believe this verse to be true all time.
There are some truths that I need to be declaring over my life. One of them being that everything Jesus said is true. He was, and is, the Son of God. That gives Him a lot of authority over heaven and earth. I also need to declare that because I have surrendered my life to Jesus, He has authority over my life by the power of the Holy Spirit which also gives me authority and freedom to believe in these truths.
The more that I declare these truths, the more my faith grows. The more my faith grows, the more I begin to believe that God can do anything. Anything.
What is it that I'm currently asking God to do in my life? I'm longing for more time with Him. I expect God to draw me away to quiet and secret places so that I can be with Him. I expect that God will make the people I'm with understand why I seclude myself sometimes. I expect God to help me believe that these things are possible. I long for a very intimate relationship with the Lord, so I need to start declaring truth over my life and start believing that a deeper relationship is possible.
I have recently been told by a dear friend that I have grown a lot in the last 2 months. Thinking about my life, I found that to be very true. The Lord has deepened and matured my faith. I have a new understanding of who God is and how to live in my identity as His daughter. The most exciting part is that I don't feel as though I have arrived with God. I'm only barely beginning to understand Him and I desire so much more. I'm learning that the more I'm faithful to God, the more He favors me because I'm righteous and holy.
That was a little tangent, but it ties in with believing that anything is possible. If you feel as though you are in a place where it's not possible for you to have a relationship with God, you're wrong. The Father in heaven loves you and is waiting for you to call out His name. He can't wait to heal your heart and to help you get through the difficult times in life and to rejoice with you in the glad times.
Pull yourself away from people and pray. Talk with God out loud and surrender your burdens to Him. He can't wait to take them. He's already paid the price, and it's at no cost to you but simply a free gift. Receive it and accept it. Allow yourself to love God just as He loves you. Believe it can happen because Jesus says that anything is possible for those who believe.
